About Professor Asif Muneer

Professor Asif Muneer is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist based at University College London Hospital. He is also a Professor of Urology and Surgical Andrology at UCL. He completed his higher surgical training in Oxford and undertook fellowships at the University of Bern and the University of Paris, as well as completing a Senior Fellowship in surgical andrology at UCLH. He also completed his higher degree (MD) at UCL investigating the physiology of male smooth muscle dysfunction and completed a PhD investigating surgical techniques for male genital cancers.

Professor Asif Muneer is a high volume surgeon with a specialist interest in male infertility, vasectomy reversal, penile prosthesis surgery, Peyronie’s disease, genital oncology & genital reconstruction. 

As the clinical lead for the supraregional penile cancer network, he leads one of the largest genital oncology teams in Europe. He is one of the highest volume penile prosthesis surgeons in the UK.  

Recipient of several National awards

Professor Muneer’s awards include British Urological Foundation award, Ethicon fellowship, Ralph Shackman fellowship and Royal Society of Medicine award.

He was also awarded the Keith Yeates Gold Medal for the FRCS(Urol) examination, and the Harold Hopkins Golden Telescope award from the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) for contribution to British Urology.

Professor Asif Muneer has published widely on all aspects of urology with over 250 peer reviewed publications, co-edited 8 textbooks and has written over 60 book chapters. As well as teaching trainee surgeons, he has lectured and held workshops throughout the UK and Europe, South East Asia and South America. He is also the past Honorary Secretary for the British Association of Urological Surgeons, past President of the British Society for Sexual Medicine, and previous Chairman of the BAUS of andrology and genito-urethral surgery. He is currently the chair for the British Fertility Society specialist interest group in andrology. 

Professor Muneer offers an evidence-based personalised service for all areas of andrology, including complex conditions and revision surgery.
